Within the retreat, everyone has a place on our two big minibuses.

If you would like to take your own car, please let us know so we can do our best to coordinate departures and arrivals.

If you arrive by public transport, you will probably be dropped opposite the Abbey museum (the opposite side of the retreat house), at the foot of the high street.

Glastonbury High Street has a few grocery stores, and if you need to get to a bigger store for supplies, let us know, and we can bring you on one of our outings.

Also in Glastonbury are a wide collection of thrift shops for any bits that are missing for your sense of fashion and comfort.

GETTING HERE

London Paddington Station is the main departure point from London to either Bristol city or Bristol airport or Castle Cary train station. Train tickets are up to 50% cheaper when bought in advance online.

From Bristol there is a bus route to Glastonbury, and from Castle Cary it's necessary to take a taxi if you arrive at a time where we can't get you (around 25 minutes drive).

There is also a direct bus once a day  from Paddington Station to Glastonbury; and another Flixbus  from Hammersmith in London to Glastonbury town centre (£21). The bus ride takes about 3.30hrs.

Dare to Drive?

Driving on the left can be dauntinig at first, but basically it's easy when you follow the traffic. British drivers tend to be slow and patient. Just be alert at roundabouts (they go the other way) and turning into junctions).

International drivers can tend to veer toward the pavements out of habit. If you align with the white lines in the center of the road, it will be easier to stay even.

Remember to take your time. It is a friendly country!

Parking in Glastonbury

Is not always easy. If you need a guaranteed spot, consider reserving here.

Other stuff that matters

✔️If you don't have one yet, you will need to get an electronic travel authorization (ETA) to enter the UK. The procedure is quite easy but needs to be done in advance.

✔️The currency is GBP or Pound Sterling. Most transactions are with a visa or debit card, or contactless.

✔️The UK has it's own plug sockets so a universal adapter is very useful for your devices

✔️The UK is not metric, so you'll see a lot of distances measured in miles and other funky units.

✔️Many high street shops close at 5pm, and earlier on Sundays. Pubs serve last orders at around 10:40pm, also earlier on Sundays.

✔️Although everyone drives on the left, they also drive more slowly, carefully and politely than many other countries so renting a car could be more viable and fun than it seems.

✔️Don't be surprised by the crazy encounters that might happen on Glastonbury High Street. You will develop a degree of resilience.
